sciart 2011 at kitp

we have opened quietly the new kitp show, sciart 2011 a group show featuring casazi, faustmann, myself, mohr, raphael and wiese. the calendar for the opening reception remains to be announced.

works presented are mostly current pieces, but for a remarkable large mohr piece from his 1970-85 early period. all the works I present are from the last twelve months (camaïeu, chiaroscuro, grisaille, moiré, monochrome, verdaccio).

casazi, faustmann, mohr and i present essentially algorithmic works, executed with or without code, but always with rules, while raphael and wiese deal more directly with physics, each in its own experimental (waves, astrophysics) or theoretical way (rna).

the show honors ben porter, born a century ago, physicist, artist, publisher, and commentator of social culture. porter's work was recently exhibited at moma.

the pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.
